Innovation and resilience at family-run global and European market leaders from Austria

Time period: January 2019 - July 2019
Contact: FH-Prof. Mag. Dr. Georg Jungwirth
Cooperation partner: Mag. Christoph Robinson, Managing Director of the Julius Raab Foundation

The primary research objective of this study, which was conducted on behalf of the Julius Raab Foundation, was to investigate why family-run global and European market leaders from Austria are so innovative. The main aim was to find out how these 200 or so companies organise their innovation processes, how their research and development is organised and which internal company requirements must be met for a successful innovation process.

Another key objective of the study was to identify the influencing factors that enable, promote or prevent innovation.

On the other hand, a further research focus was on analysing why these internationally successful companies have demonstrated such a high degree of resilience in the past and why they mostly developed in a sustainably positive manner, for example during the global economic and financial crisis after 2008.
