In this university course, the basic contents and relationships of the balance sheet and income statement are taught and presented in the form of case studies. Additionally, the central elements of business planning – profit planning, financial planning, planned balance sheet – are conveyed. The content is supplemented by business metrics and supported with concrete examples, so that connections within the company and the impacts of economic decisions become clear.
Building on the presentation of the fundamental relationships between the balance sheet and profit and loss account in the section Balance Sheet | Profit and Loss Account, the perspective changes in the section Profit Plan | Financial Plan | Planned Balance Sheet from a past-oriented view to a holistic view of the company and simultaneously to a future-oriented view of a company.
The university course "Finance Hands-on" has the following content and therefore focus:
Content, structure and statement of a profit plan, financial plan and budgeted balance sheet and their interrelationships
Content and meaning of company key figures
Payment targets and turnover rates of receivables and liabilities
The entire course includes 3 ECTS credits (25 learning units). Assessment is conducted through an online case study.
