This workshop explores Chat-GPT’s potential in higher education, exploring how it can complement traditional pedagogies and amplifies research capabilities.
As the efficacy of Chat-GPT lies in the art of asking, participants will learn and explore the intricacies of prompt engineering and Natural Language Processing. Using our step-by-step prompt engineering model and practical examples, participants will get more correct and contextually relevant responses from Chat-GPT, based on their needs and course content.
In the second part of the workshop, we will show participants how to extend the power of Chat-GPT with plug-ins and Google Chrome extensions, for example to summarize and transcript YouTube videos, or to ask questions based on long pdf documents in Chat-GPT.
Finally, we’ll also look deeper into the ethics and the pitfalls by discussing its potential challenges, biases, the importance of ethical considerations, copyright and privacy issues in its application.
Über Lut de Jaeger: Lut De Jaegher holds the position of senior researcher within the Teacher Training Department at Artevelde University of Applied Sciences in Ghent, Belgium. She is recognized for her expertise in blended learning and for integrating innovative educational tools into higher education. A key contributor to several European initiatives, Lut De Jaegher also conducts international training sessions, sharing her insights on blended learning and digital literacy with audiences across Europe and beyond. In 2023, she started researching the use of Machine-Generated Text models in education, critically evaluating them from ethical and didactic perspectives. This research resulted in a series of informative and practical workshops, highlighting the potential of Chat-GPT in educational contexts.
