Accompanying Projects

The course Accompanying Projects starts in the 3rd semester of the Bachelor's degree course “Automation Technology” and extends over three semesters. A self-selected project task (or one specified by the supervisor) is solved in teamwork, usually within one semester. The tasks deal with typical problems in automation technology.

The following topics are offered:

  • CAN (Controller Area Network) – Bussystems
  • Mechatronic Systems - Robotics
  • PLC-System Technology (programmable logic controller)
  • RFID (Radio Frequency Identification)
  • PC - Interface Technology
  • DEWESoft (Universal Data Acquisition)
  • Microcontroller Technology

Current topics from R&D projects are also included. Each student must choose three topics from the subject areas offered and work on one of them in the form of a practical project within the time frame of one semester under supervision. The SPS topic must be chosen by each student. In order to make this interesting, regardless of previous specialist training and experience, different focal points are set within the SPS topic.

The projects are carried out in teams, with the team's work being recorded in writing in a protocol. At the end of the semester, the individually prepared presentations of the projects are presented. The students receive feedback on their presentation techniques from an expert.
